From the church to the studio and the screen, Robert Holifield has spent a lifetime turning experience into unmistakable soul.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Robert began singing in his father’s church at three, learned guitar at eight, bass at eleven, and formed his first band at fourteen. His creative journey has included work alongside George Clinton, Billy Preston, The Temptations, and Barry White, plus a celebrated acting career as Shaka Cumbuka. Through every chapter, music has remained his first love—rooted in R&B, soul, funk, gospel, joy, and human connection.

Known on screen as Shaka Cumbuka, Robert’s career includes speaking roles in Rocky II, Brewster’s Millions, and the television series Starsky & Hutch. His work has placed him alongside Sylvester Stallone, Carl Weathers, Talia Shire, Burt Young, Burgess Meredith, Richard Pryor, John Candy, Paul Michael Glaser, and David Soul.
